Helpful Tips for Saving Money at Disney World
Whether you’re looking to cut costs on meals, utilize points and miles, or snag discounts on park admission, we’re here to help you stop overspending and stretch your budget while maximizing the joy of your Disney experience.
You’ve got this; your dream vacation is just a little planning away!
1. Bounceback Offers (aka Future Stay Offers)
Love staying on Disney property?
One of Disney’s best-kept money-saving secrets is the “Bounceback Offer,” a special promotion that allows you to save big on a future Disney vacation if you book a resort stay within seven days after your current trip ends.
During our most recent stay, we were able to save 30% on our next vacation package, which included park tickets and a moderate resort (Coronado Springs), making a huge difference!
Where to Find It:
- Keep an eye out for a Bounceback Offer pamphlet in your hotel room – it’s usually placed near the TV.
- Sometimes it’s displayed on the resort’s dedicated Disney TV channel, so be on the lookout for that.
- If all else fails, check your email.
Disney may email you a few days after you check out.
But don’t wait! Since these offers are time-sensitive, call Disney directly to ask about them.
If you’re considering coming back to Disney within the next year, this is your chance to lock in a deal before prices go up.
2. Split Stay
Consider a split-stay strategy to enjoy luxury without spending top dollar on your entire vacation.
A “split stay” at Walt Disney World involves splitting your vacation between two or more different Disney resort hotels (or other accommodations).

For example, you can start your trip at a more budget-friendly “Value” resort and then transition to a “Moderate” or “Deluxe” Resort for the second half of your stay.
My favorite moderate Disney hotels include Disney Coronado Springs Resort and Disney Caribbean Beach Resort.
To help make this happen, Disney offers complimentary luggage transfer between Disney Resort hotels, which you can arrange through Bell Services.
Helpful Tip: Split stays also mean you have water park access on your second check-in day — more about this perk in tip #7 below.
3. Save on pool days
You might be tempted to visit the parks daily to make the most of your vacation.
However, we’ve learned that it’s important to appreciate rest days, too, a.k.a. “pool days,” which allow us to sleep in, splash at the pool, and explore the resort.
What about the financial advantage?
Building in relaxing pool days means you do not have to pay for park tickets on those days.
As a rule, our family plans one pool day for every seven-day stay.
4. Bring your child’s stroller
Bringing your stroller is a money-saving Disney hack for families and a convenience that ensures your child’s comfort.
Naps and breaks are more enjoyable when your child can relax in a familiar environment.
Plus, bringing your stroller gives you more space for essentials such as diapers, snacks, drinks, sunscreen, ponchos, and souvenirs.
As of 2025, a single stroller costs $15 per day at Disney World, while a double stroller costs $31.
Bringing your stroller eliminates the rental cost; you don’t have to worry about returning it before leaving the park. This can save you time and give you more control over your schedule.
Recommended Strollers:
- Doona Car Seat & Stroller for infants up to 33 pounds
- Graco Ready2Jet Compact Stroller for toddlers up to 50 pounds

5. Use your Disney Visa credit card for discounts
At Walt Disney World, Disney Visa cardholders can enjoy savings on dining, shopping, and other activities.
Enjoy 20% off at Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Co and 10% off select restaurants.
Just present your card and confirm you are eligible for a discount.
You can also access exclusive character meet-and-greets at select parks and get 15% off guided tours, carriage rides, and horseback trail rides.
6. Pay off your vacation interest-free
Did you know you can book your preferred travel dates, hotel room, and park admission by making an early reservation and only paying a $200 deposit?
Most Disney reservations require a deposit, which helps you lock in dates and avoid price increases. The remaining balance is due interest-free 30 days before your arrival date.
This perk alone has helped us budget for our annual Disney vacations, letting us pay at our own pace. Consider spreading payments over time, saving a lump sum, or making one payment.
7. Free transportation for Disney resort guests
As a benefit of staying on-site, Disney resorts at Walt Disney World provide complimentary transportation to and from the parks.
This means saving money on Uber rides, car rental, insurance, and daily parking fees ($30 per day for standard parking and $45 to $55 per day for preferred parking).

We love staying on property because it makes travel between our hotel and the theme parks, water parks, and Disney Springs convenient and seamless.
Disney resort guests can choose between buses, monorails, ferries, or the skyline.
8. Enjoy free water park admission on arrival day
Another fantastic benefit of staying at a Disney resort is that guests can enjoy complimentary access to Disney water parks on arrival.
Whether dependent, if you arrive early (especially if your room isn’t ready yet), you can dive straight into the fun at either Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon without any additional out-of-pocket cost.
With ticket prices for the water parks generally around $69 to $79 per person, this can result in significant savings.
Just remember to pack your swimsuit and sunscreen in your carry-on, so it’s easily accessible.
9. Free towels at water parks
Speaking of water parks, Disney resort guests receive free towels at Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon, eliminating the need to spend money on rentals, $2 per towel.
You always have the option to bring your own towels to avoid rental fees.
10. Purchase souvenirs at home
Buying souvenirs before your trip is a great way to save money at Disney World and preserve the magic of your Disney vacation. Your children will not notice the difference.
For less than at the parks, you can purchase Disney-themed products, such as shirts, princess dresses, and insulated water bottles, on Amazon, Etsy, Target, Walmart, etc.
Alternatively, buy one or two special items at the parks.
For example, sticking to our budget, we have intentionally purchased custom lightsabers, Minni ears, and coffee mugs at the parks.
Instead of Minnie ears, bubble wands, toys, or glow sticks at the park, you can purchase them ahead of time and pack them away in your luggage.
11. Skip PhotoPass
Want to capture those magical moments without dishing out cash for a PhotoPass?
Disney PhotoPass photographers are placed at iconic locales around the park and with characters, and they are happy to take photos with your phone.

Ask photographers to use their phones instead of taking photos with their professional cameras.
If you don’t want the complete Memory Maker package (starting at $185), you can always purchase individual photos, which can cost up to $20 per photo.
12. Guest Services has your back
Travel can be unpredictable, so when you’re in a jam, visit Guest Services (look for cast members under the blue umbrellas).
If your flight gets canceled and you miss your first day at Disney, head straight to Guest Services when you arrive.
They’re often willing to offer solutions – whether reissuing unused tickets, adjusting your reservation, or adding a little extra magic to make up for lost time.
It’s always worth asking!
13. Use a travel agent
A great travel agent doesn’t just plan, they protect your time and travel budget.
Knowing the ins and outs of discounts, special offers, access to hidden deals, and booking perks, travel agents can make your Disney trip less stressful and more affordable.
Plus, they’ll monitor for price drops after you book and apply them to your reservation.
Lastly, don’t forget since travel agents are paid through booking commissions, you don’t need to pay anything extra out of pocket for their services.
Yes, working with a travel agent is free!
14. Avoid dining cancellations Fees
When making dining reservations at Disney, it’s important to know that last-minute cancellations can cost you.
If you don’t cancel at least two hours in advance, you’ll likely be charged a $10-per-person no-show fee.
Here’s how to avoid the fee:
- Be realistic when planning: Only book sit-down meals you’re confident you can attend based on your park plans, nap schedules, and even your children’s moods.
- Cancel or change your reservation in the My Disney Experience app as soon as possible.
If you’re unsure if a sit-down meal is right for you, consider quick-service restaurants instead – they are mobile order eligible, and no reservations are required.
15. Use points and miles
One of the best-kept secrets to turning your Disney World dream into a reality is the power of points and miles.
By taking advantage of travel rewards programs, you can save significantly on flights and hotel stays, allowing you to reserve your budget for those extra magical experiences in the parks.
For instance, let’s talk about our own experience with JetBlue.
Thanks to their rewards program, we had accumulated a stash of points over the years, and when it came time to book our flights to Florida, we knew we were in luck.
By wisely using our points, we scored nearly $900 in savings on round-trip tickets for a family of three. That’s right—$900!
Imagine having that extra cash to splurge on a character dining experience, photo passes, or lighting passes.
Many hotels near Disney offer excellent rates, especially if you use points from programs like Marriott Bonvoy or Hilton Honors. Some of these hotels come with complimentary shuttle services to the parks, meaning you can enjoy transportation perks on top of a more budget-friendly stay.
So, if you haven’t already, start signing up for travel rewards programs and keep an eye on your points. You’ll be amazed at how quickly they add up and offer incredible savings opportunities for your Disney vacation.

16. Book trips for late summer
Disney has been running lots of seasonal promotions lately. However, as a rule of thumb, the last week of August through mid September typically have the lowest ticket prices, room rates, and fewer crowds.
Other Noteworthy Money-Saving Tips at Disney World
- Florida residents can save on special theme park tickets with the Resident Discover Disney Program. Note: Deals change regularly.
- Purchase Disney gift cards at a discount using the Target RedCard (debit or credit), Sam’s Club, Costco, or BJ’s.
- Visit during the off-season or weekdays for cheaper hotel stays and theme park tickets.
