Growing up I had little interest in planning a dream wedding. I was too busy with dance and swimming lessons to care. In fact, for a long time, I thought that I would start planning for my wedding after I said “Yes!”. Yet after helping my friends pick color schemes, bridal dresses, and venues, recently I’ve had second thoughts. Perhaps planning ahead would be a smart move. If planning now can make things easier down the line, I’m all for it!
More than anything, my biggest concern is affording my dream wedding. With the average wedding costing $26,720, weddings are expensive. Who has that sort of money lying around? I most certainly do not! And the last thing I would want to do is take out a loan.
Putting things into perspective, I’ve decided that I want an affordable but elegant beach wedding. I want to wear a beautiful white dress while feeling the sand between my toes. There’s just one thing, my home state Connecticut doesn’t quite fit the bill. I’d have to plan a destination wedding.

This place looks gorgeous and it’s great to hear it’s more affordable than most the places my friends have been getting married in. I’ve always loved the idea of a wedding abroad, it’s always seemed more romantic and more fitting to me (a girl who loves travel)

I also never thought I’d be one of those women who plans her dream wedding before even being popped the question, but lately when I travel, I’ve found myself thinking, “This would be a beautiful destination for a wedding.” I catch myself doing it the most at wineries, but I could see the appeal of a beach wedding. That area of Florida is beautiful along the Gulf coast. You can’t beat the sunsets there.
