6 TV Shows To Binge Watch During Your Next Long Flight

TV Shows To Binge Watch For Long Flights

One thing that I’ve learned the hard way is that you can’t assume that airlines will have in-flight entertainment. On Virgin Atlantic economy, I had access to award-winning TV shows, movies, documentaries, games, and music. Although this was incredible, this isn’t always the case. Many flights do not offer any entertainment so why chance it?

To avoid disappointment, I do not rely on in-flight entertainment. Instead, I always bring a handful of binge-worthy TV shows and a few travel movies to inspire wanderlust. Since streaming isn’t always available, download select shows and movies on Netflix and access them while you’re offline on your phone, computer or tablet.

Trust me, there’s nothing like 5-hours (or more) of uninterrupted time to binge watch! Now that’s what I call being productive.

Shows To Binge Watch On Your Next Flight

The Walking Dead

If you love blood, guts and decaying flesh then watch The Walking Dead on your next flight.

Recently celebrating its 100th episode and already on Season 8, The Walking Dead is one of my favorite TV shows. As you watch the show, experience a rollercoaster of emotions. You’ll feel heartbroken when your favorite character dies. You’ll also cheer when new love blossoms – I’m doing my best not to give it all away here!

Really, there’s never a dull moment on this show! It will have you biting your nails for hours.

Set in a post-zombie apocalyptic world, The Walking Dead follows Rick Grimes as he leads a group of survivors through a harsh new world. Not only does the group have to navigate flesh-eating walkers, but they also have to compete with other surviving groups. Let the savagery begin!

If you haven’t started watching the show, all you need is a six-hour flight. Season 1 has six episodes, each one hour-long.

Stranger Things

Stranger Things is my latest TV show obsession!

Set in a small town in Indiana in 1983, a 12-year-old boy mysteriously goes missing. As his mom teams up with local authorities to find him, they uncover top-secret government research facilities and powerful supernatural forces from another dimension. At the same time, the young boy’s friends conduct their own search and find a girl with psychokinetic abilities.

Stranger Things will keep you at the edge of your seat and honestly, it proves that sci-fi is extremely cool. This sci-fi-horror pays homage to the 1980s pop-culture, so add it to your growing list of shows you plan to binge watch during a long flight.

Narcos

Narcos chronicles the true-life of Pablo Escobar. Pablo Escobar is a notorious Colombian drug lord. He’s to blame for the cocaine epidemic from the late 1970s to the early 1990s.

From rags to riches, Pablo Escobar creates one of the biggest drug cartels in the world.

Seen as a menace to society, the United States government assembles a small task force to take him down. Their goal, eliminate the threat by any means necessary.

Shot in Colombia, this show’s gorgeous scenery is enough to make you want to book a flight.

Supernatural

Supernatural

If you think that monsters, werewolves, and demons do not exist, think again!

Supernatural follows two brothers across the country. Following in their father’s footsteps, Sam and Dean are paranormal “hunters”. They kill evil supernatural beings.

Dedicated to saving the innocent, they are non-traditional heroes. They pose as FBI agents, stay at cheap motels and love classic rock. Did I forget to mention that they are also hot!

With over 250 episodes, Supernatural is a great show to binge watch. It’s the perfect mix of fantasy and horror. It will also have you wondering, what’s out there?

House of Cards

Set in Washington, D.C. the House of Cards is ruthless!

Frank Underwood is a Democratic congressman and House majority whip. In Season 1, Frank is passed over for Secretary of State. Feeling betrayed, he is out for blood.

Together with his wife, Claire, they devise an elaborate plan against all those who betrayed him. The Underwoods are conniving. But they are also cunning and strategic. In no time, they are running the White House. They stop at nothing to get their way.

Gearing up for Season 5, this political drama lives up to the rave reviews.

Orange Is The New Black

Orange Is The New Black is a laugh-out-loud comedy-drama.

After getting caught smuggling drug money for her lesbian lover, Piper Chapman is sentenced to 15 months in prison. There, Piper meets an eclectic group of women from all walks of life.

This show will make you laugh. And at times, it will make you cry. Most of all, it will make you think. OITNB touches on a ton of current issues. This includes race, drug use, sexuality, gender and so much more.

Through flashbacks, you’ll learn more about each character. You’ll also learn about how they ended up in prison in the first place.

Those are intense TV series and great suggestions! I love house of cards – can’t wait for the next season! But usually on vacation, I love something more fun and casual, like Sex and The City lol.

On my last flight to Europe I was binge watching The Big Bang Theory. I was happy they had in flight entertainment. But like you said, that isn’t always the case. Bringing your own things to watch definitely guarantees you’ll have a great flight.
