Announcing My New Book “Affording Travel”
If you would have told me five years ago that I’d be the author of two books, I would have asked you if you were joking. Five years ago, I started this blog with limiting beliefs. Although I did not see myself as a writer, I had a lot to say and share with the world. As a Virgo, I am analytical, logical and numbers driven, not creative or imaginative I would say. Just the other day I took a brain dominance test which listed me as realistic, linear, accurate and mathematic. But instead of giving up on the idea of starting a blog, I leaned in. All the way in.
Over the past five years, I have learned that I’ve had the potential to become a writer all along. I needed to flex my creative muscle, live outside of my comfort zone and build the confidence to articulate my ideas. Throughout this journey, hundreds of thousands of people have visited my blog looking for answers, insights and inspiration.
With that being said, it brings me great joy to share with you that I’m the author of a new book titled Affording Travel: Saving Strategies for Financially Savvy Travelers. This book has been on my heart for a while.
Everything You Need To Know About “Affording Travel”
Why write this book?
After writing my first book, Iceland: Nature, Nurture & Adventure, I wanted my next book to speak specifically to my tribe of financially savvy travelers. Financially savvy travelers want to travel the world while being fiscally responsible. They also want to vacation often without sacrificing progress on their financial goals. I’m a financially savvy traveler so I get it.

I wrote this book because I wanted to offer practical advice to those who want to make travel a financial priority and I wanted to share the proven strategies that I’ve used to make my dreams come true. To date, I’ve traveled to 27 countries and 4 continents using the techniques I detail. But all of this did not happen by chance. I have been intentional with my finances and relentless with my pursuit for financial freedom.
While I’ve talked a lot about travel and money on my blog, podcast and with anyone who would listen, I have never detailed my complete step-by-step process for putting money aside for vacations until now.

Clocking in at less than 10,000 words, Affording Travel does just that. It shares everything I know about saving and prioritizing travel and how to live abundantly. So many people want to travel the world but their actions don’t align with their vision. I aim to change that.

What’s inside “Affording Travel”?
Unlike other budget travel books which teach you how to travel the world for less, Affording Travel shares how to save for travel, not how to save money while traveling. It is packed with practical money-saving tips and strategies and don’t worry, I won’t tell you to stop drinking coffee or encourage you to sell your belongings – although these certainly work, you’ve heard all of these before.
You’ll also hear from other financially savvy travelers who have implemented strategies I mention in the book.
